Heronswood is a garden not far from my home on Washington’s Kitsap Peninsula. A synopsis of its history can be found here. The garden was founded by plantsman Dan Hinkley, and after a period of ownership by Burpee Seeds, and the company’s bankruptcy, it was closed and fell into disrepair. Five years ago, it was acquired by the nearby Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe, and has since been renovated.
Yesterday the garden hosted a rare plant sale, which also gave me the opportunity to wander in. Here are some of my photos of the garden.
